The air is heavy with dust and debris, and Ellie's quick on Joel's heels, making good use of cover to keep hidden. She's more quiet than he is, so it tends to be easier. As loud as the bombs and cracks of gunfire are, not to mention the coughing, they're staying unnoticed.
She slides into place next to him, staying down while he checks things out.
With a quick nod, Ellie moves down to one side of the oil drums, taking out her knife. Thankfully, the Hunters stick together, and as soon as they draw into range, Ellie locks eyes with Joel, vaults a drum, and jumps on one man's back, punching her knife into his throat. He drops with a wrenching, desperate little gurgle, and Ellie rides him down, wrenching with her wrist to make sure it tears open everything vital.
The pool of blood quickly reaches lethal size, and she gets off him, bolting for the hole in the fence.
"No sign of Tommy and Maria?" she whispers as they duck through. Thinking quickly, Ellie scoops a hand-sized chunk of concrete from the ground, taking it with her.
-and as they make it through the fence, one of the Hunters outside makes a grab for Joel's hair.
